Family,
I owe you both apologies. I never intended to end up back in the Capitol, and I want you to know this wasn’t planned in the slightest. For all my experience, there are some situations where it fails me and when presented with the choice between harming a friend to escape or being taken, I chose the latter. Perhaps I’m going soft. Perhaps I always was. But I wanted both of you to know I am sorry for how it happened. I intended to be there for you both in your recoveries. I take solace in knowing you are at least there for each other.
I am attempting to make the best of a bad situation. I will be forwarding any information I can uncover to aid the Rebellion in an effort to use my position to the best effect, but I cannot promise anything. Sending this letter already is a great risk and it is not just me that would suffer if it is discovered, but some risks are important to take. This is one of them.
Currently, I don’t know any more than Sam does concerning the situation, but he knows a great deal. Ask him, as I don’t want to risk putting it in print for fear of interception. Future letters will hopefully be more helpful. Also please watch out for him; the Capitol has made him a cyborg using the same technology that was used on Jet and my world for us as a basis. He may have difficulty in the times ahead, but it is easier knowing there are those who care who will support him. Please be that support where we cannot.
I miss the both of you but am glad you remain there, at least relatively out of harm’s way and able to act more or less freely. Someday soon, we all will be able to do the same.
